Sports and Art Competitions Mark Navratri Celebrations in Chhattisgarh

Seva Times, Dhamtari (Chhattisgarh): On the occasion of Navratri, teachers, and yuvacharyas of The Art of Living had organized sports and art competitions in Kareli Badi village, Magarload Block, Chattisgarh, from October 15 to 21, 2018.
The competitions were organized to keep rural games and art forms from becoming extinct. During the week-long sports meet, more than 250 village youth from 10 villages participated in games like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Jalebi Race, marathon (5km), high jump, long jump, shot put throw, and swimming.
Singing and dholak playing competitions were also organized. The highlight of the event was the rangoli competition on the occasion of Durga Ashtami on October 17, 2018, in which women and girls of the village and even some young boys participated with great enthusiasm, decorating the Durga Pandal put up in the village with beautiful, bright and colorful rangolis.
The villagers were full of praise for the volunteers for organizing these competitions. They expressed their hope that such competitions would be organized more frequently in the villages as it created a feeling of bonhomie and spirit of camaraderie among the villagers and gave the village youth a chance to display their talents.
