9 villages ODF

Khandiwadi village, Maharashtra :Nine villages across Maharashtra have been made open-defecation free in four months this year thanks to the intervention of Art of Living volunteers. Supported by CSR of Good Year India LTD and Good year South Asia, International Association for Human Values (IAHV) unit of Art Of Living is implementing the project.
In the four-month, cleanliness awareness program conducted by IAHV, high quality 694 modern toilets were built. In this campaign a major role was performed by the Maharashtra Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP) rural managers and yuvacharyas. Maharashtra cleanliness and water minister Baburao Lonikar inaugurated these toilets during a program organized in Khandiwadi village.
Volunteer-leaders like Parmeshwar Rajbinde, PurushottamWayal, Somnath Soneve and Venketeshmangalam inspired the villagers to adopt the usage of toilets and prepared them to adopt regular and strict measures towards cleanliness. Villagers are using the toilets regularly.
All the nine villages underwent the Art of Living programs. In some places bio-gas units were started. Lakshmi taru plants were planted in and around the houses.
